Water Tank Drain

After adding the water pump (and using a lot more water) one issue we had was remembering to close the drain on the water tank before closing up. Since the valve is inside under the dining seats we can't get to it until the camper is fully open. Pulled up once to fill the water and as I'm filling a stream of water is flowing under the camper. Dang, tank got left open again. With this mod there will be no more carrying 5 gallon jugs of water!

On our Dutchmen this was an easy mod. I simply added a 90° elbow to the drain line under the camper, ran a piece of PEX pipe out the the side through the frame, and put a valve there. Now we'll be able to open or close the water tank drain from the outside. It does stick out a bit, but if I get that close to anything there will be damage to the pop up too.

To get under the popup one trick I learned is use the BAL to raise one side of the camper up. Then it's easy to slide under on a mechanics creeper. If the popup is hitched, I use a car ramp to raise one side. That's usually how I lube the cable box in the spring.
